It started
at home.

I'm a dad. At home, one YouTube video often led to another. Shorts and games had the same pull. I wasn't happy with the time disappearing.

We tried rules, time limits and taking screens away. Sometimes it helped; eventually we were back where we started. And we're part of it too. We hand our kids a screen while cooking, working or needing a quiet moment.

I don't have parenting figured out. So I started asking a different question:

That question became Playkie. I'm building the tool I wanted for our family: short, playful moments for maths, English, movement or something that needs doing, alongside clear everyday routines and room to go back to play.

The app is still in development. I started with our family and hope it may be useful for yours too.
